Itinerary
Day 1
- Arrive at Guwahati Airport / Railway Station. Upon your arrival, meet our local representative and board your transfer to Shillong. On the way, visit Umiam Lake aka Borapani, which is a mesmerizing man-made reservoir encircled with lush green hills (if time permits/ or on the day of departure) Upon reaching Shillong, check-in at the hotel and spend the rest of the evening at leisure wherein you can choose to explore the local market (at your own expense) Overnight stay at the hotel in Shillong.
Day 2
- Post breakfast in the morning, head out for a day excursion to Cherrapunjee. On the way, take a detour of the Shillong Peak which is the highest peak in Meghalaya from where you can soak in the views of the entire Shillong city. Next, take a short photo stop at Elephant Falls. Move further towards Cherrapunjee, which is known to be the wettest place on earth in terms of rainfall. Here, visit the viewpoint of the famous Nohkhalikai Falls and get to know the dreadful story behind this beautiful waterfall. After this, stop at the viewpoint of the Seven Sisters’ Falls to enjoy the amazing views of these 7-streamed waterfalls. Conclude your excursion tour by exploring the Mawsmai caves famous for their fossils and limestone structures that can be viewed with the lit-up interiors. Start your return journey back to Shillong. Overnight stay at the hotel in Shillong.
Day 3
- After breakfast, head out to explore Shillong, also known as the Scotland of East. Start off by visiting the Don Bosco Museum to get a glimpse of the rich and multicultural lifestyles of the indigenous tribes of North East India. Later, visit the Cathedral Church, known for its stunning stained glass installations and tall arches. Visit the Wards Lake - a horse-shoe-shaped lake surrounded by a beautiful garden constructed 100 years ago. After completing the sightseeing, start your journey back to Guwahati. Visit Umiam lake as you leave Shillong (if it is missed on Day 1). Upon reaching Guwahati, check in to your hotel and conclude your day. Overnight stay at the hotel in Guwahati.
Day 4
- After having your breakfast at the hotel, head out to explore Guwahati. Start off by visiting the Assam State Museum also known as Assam Rajyik State Museum to get insights into the rich culture of ancient history as well as the modern history of North-East India. Next, visit the Assam state zoo which houses some exotic animals like one-horned rhinoceros which is native to the Indian subcontinent, giraffes and ostriches from Africa, and kangaroos from Australia. Next, take up a 15 mins boat ride to Peacock Island to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva & Goddess Parvati at the Umananda temple. In the evening, you can go cruising in the Brahmaputra River (at your own expense). After enjoying the beautiful cruise on one of the longest rivers of India, head back to your hotel in Guwahati. Overnight stay at the hotel in Guwahati.
Day 5
- Have your breakfast at the hotel and pack your bags as you end your amazing Meghalaya trip today On the way, visit Kamakhya Temple, which is one of the most revered Shaktipeeth (depending on your time of departure). Your tour concludes once you are dropped off at the Airport / Railway Station.
Day 6
- Have your breakfast at the hotel and pack your bags as you end your amazing Meghalaya trip today. Visit Umiam lake as you leave Shillong (if it is missed on Day 1) Upon reaching Guwahati, visit Kamakhya Temple, which is one of the most revered Shaktipeeth (if time permits). Your tour concludes once you are dropped off at the Airport / Railway Station.
